While somewhat dated, this article from Kunvay provides a slew of examples of how copyright spoiled the Olympics for many patriotic Londoners. The Brits were encouraged to embrace the “spirit of the games”, but just about any material similarity to the “Games Marks” attracted the heavy hand of Olympic lawyers. Examples include a baker who shaped bagels into Olympic rings and a barbeque joint which dared to sell an “Olympic Barbeque Special”. How’s that for menacing infringement?
